Do you realize how many times scripture tells us we have been chosen by God the Father? 1 Peter 1:2; Romans 8:28-29, 33; Ephesians 1:4-5; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; James 2:5
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
1 Peter 1:1-2 (NIV 84)
To God’s elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV 84)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Romans 8:28-33 (NIV 84)
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will–
Ephesians 1:4-5 (NIV 84)
For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you,
1 Thessalonians 1:4 (NIV 84)
But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. (NIV 1984)
2 Thessalonians 2:13 (NIV 84)
Have you told your children that given the choice, you would choose them? Why would you choose them? Jesus told His apostles, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit–fruit that will last.” (John 15:16 NIV 1984) If you want your children to be fruitful, maybe they need to know they are chosen by their father.
