“See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many.”
Matthew 24:3-5 (NASB)
Apparently being “misled” will be a major end time issue. Jesus warned about being misled in versus Matthew 24:3 – 5 and again in versus 23 – 26.
How can you avoid being misled? What can you teach your children so they will not be misled?
Jesus gave us the key to avoid being misled. Know the signs of His return. From the following scriptures we see that Jesus will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and trumpet of God. He will come on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. His coming will be like lightning flashing across the sky.
- Matthew 24:27 (NASB) For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
- Matthew 24:30 (NASB) And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.
- Acts 1:9-11 (NASB) And after He [Jesus] had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NASB) For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
How do you teach this to your children? When you see lightening start by telling your children that Jesus said His coming would be something like lightning. Ask your children what that could mean. On a pretty day, point to the clouds ask your children what shapes do they see? Tell them a day is coming when Jesus will return, not as a cloud or a face in a cloud, but he will be on the clouds. Not in a plane, helicopter, or jetpack but everyone will see him and know that it is Jesus the Christ, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
